Roman ruins
In ancient times, the Forum was a marshy area. Only from the end of the 7th century B.C., after the drainage of the valley, the Roman Forum begin to take shape and it was to remain the centre of public life for over a millennium.
You get to the Forum via the Via Sacra, the most notorious road in Rome. Here you will find the round Temple of Vesta and Saturn, the basilica of Maxentius, and the residences of the pontifex maximus You will also see the remains of arches, the speaker's platform, market halls and much more.
The Roman Forum is today one of the most visited historical sites in the world and was the political, administrative and religious centre of ancient Rome.
